Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the world leader in AI technology for cyber defense, has today announced that ZPower, an industry trendsetter in rechargeable battery technology, has successfully detected and remediated an emerging insider threat on its production floor with Darktrace’s AI.

The Enterprise Immune System has exceeded all of our expectations,” commented Nitin Arneja, Director of Information Systems at ZPower. “The AI platform provides real-time threat detection capabilities that are second to none. Darktrace also opened our eyes to what devices we have on our networks – the visibility and intelligence the Enterprise Immune System provides is truly unmatched.”

ZPower manufactures the world’s highest-energy rechargeable microbatteries, which are widely regarded as a benchmark in the field. As an industry leader and innovator, ZPower considers safeguarding the company’s intellectual property a business priority. Additionally, defending the company’s production line against subtle, stealthy threats is instrumental to delivering its first-class products on time and on budget. These security requirements prompted ZPower to select Darktrace’s proven Enterprise Immune System platform for cyber defense.

Deployed in under an hour, Darktrace’s technology learns the normal ‘pattern of life’ for every user and device on a network and uses this understanding to detect and autonomously respond to threats as they emerge. Within weeks of deployment, the AI algorithms alerted the security team to an emerging cyber-threat. An employee had downloaded perilous software, potentially exposing the company to fast-spreading malware infections. Darktrace detected this troubling incident of non-malicious insider threat in real time, allowing ZPower to take immediate remedial action before the company had incurred damage.

Faced with an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape, it is crucial that companies like ZPower can be confident in the security of their manufacturing facilities,” commented Randy Cheek, SVP US-West, Darktrace. “Artificial intelligence is a fundamental enabler for cyber security, and Darktrace is at the forefront of that shift, enabling organizations like ZPower to defend their networks against the entire spectrum of cyber-threat, including insider threats and ‘unknown unknowns’.”
