Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the world’s leading AI company for cyber defense, has today announced that Utilities Kingston has deployed the Industrial Immune System to safeguard its complex industrial environment.

With cyber-attackers increasingly targeting industrial control systems and national critical infrastructure around the world, it is essential for utility providers like Utilities Kingston to build agile and robust cyber defenses. Through its dynamic understanding of Utilities Kingston’s operational systems, Darktrace AI detects emerging threats in seconds, enabling the organization to quickly respond.

Kevin McCauley, Director of Networking at Utilities Kingston, said: “As artificial intelligence becomes a commodity, it is only a matter of time before malicious actors begin using it in attacks. AI is vital to our security posture, as it is flexible enough to defend our entire SCADA environment, including diverse legacy systems. Now, instead of relying upon a single person to identify threats across this complex infrastructure, Darktrace does it for us, alerting us to potential threats in real time. Darktrace is exactly what we were looking for.”
