Threat Analysis Stories: Detecting a College Scam that Attempted Cyber Financial Aid Fraud
Threat actors attempted to commit financial aid fraud as part of a college scam in which they impersonated students and applied for grants and scholarships.
Darktrace identified this attempted financial fraud using Self-Learning AI to recognize unusual behavior on the network. As a result, the security team closed the fake accounts before any funds were transferred, stopping this financial aid fraud attack.
