Statement regarding LockBit claims
Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Irwin Mitchell Selects Darktrace to Deliver Best-of-Class Cyber Security
Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has announced that one of the largest UK law firms, Irwin Mitchell LLP, has deployed Darktrace’s award-winning technology to take advantage of one of the most advanced mathematical cyber defence solutions in the market.
Irwin Mitchell, a top 20 UK law firm, has 11 offices and employs over 2,400 people across the country. As a ‘full service’ law firm, it delivers a wide range of private client and business legal services to private individuals, businesses, charities, institutions and organisations. With a reputation for excellence and innovation, it is also the recipient of numerous industry awards.
Dedicated to protecting the integrity of its data systems and particularly safeguarding client information, Irwin Mitchell has been proactive in looking for solutions to defend against advanced cyber threats. It selected Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System technology following a four-week Proof of Value period, due to Darktrace’s unique ability to detect emerging anomalous behaviours across its network, and help spot potential cyber-threats that bypass traditional security solutions.
Based on unsupervised machine learning and probabilistic mathematics developed at the University of Cambridge, the Enterprise Immune System is capable of learning ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ activity by modelling the behaviours of each user, device and network. Without ‘a priori’ knowledge or rules, the self-learning Enterprise Immune System is capable of detecting subtle deviations from this ‘norm’ and constantly refines its learning, in order to stay up to date with a fast-moving corporate environment. Thanks to Darktrace’s intuitive Threat Visualizer interface, which provides 100% visibility of the entire network, various groups within Irwin Mitchell can easily draw value from this unique intelligence data, investigate potential incidents and even replay events of concern.
“Darktrace allows us to demonstrate that we are on top of incident management: we are monitoring, we are alerting, we are investigating - and not just small areas of our network, but all of our network,” said Mark Vivian, Head of IT Security at Irwin Mitchell. “It’s a game changer for us to be able to see threats early or as they are happening. It allows us to take control of a situation.”
“We are proud to be working with an innovative firm like Irwin Mitchell, which is leading its sector to ensure proactive cyber defence,” said Nick Trim, Managing Director EMEA, Darktrace. “Darktrace’s self-learning approach is providing unique intelligence to firms across the legal sector today, to help protect critical data, stay ahead of coming regulation and boost client confidence in the integrity of their services.”
