Tim is one of the key developers behind Darktrace's AI cybersecurity platform. He joined Darktrace as one of its earliest cybersecurity analysts, helping organisations apply AI to security, before designing Cyber AI Analyst, Darktrace's AI security analyst. Released in 2019, Cyber AI Analyst was the first agentic AI system for security alert investigation. With 10 granted patents and 30 pending applications, Tim has played a key role in the development of cybersecurity AI across the past eight years and, as Chief AI Officer, is responsible for many of the pioneering innovations that make up Darktrace's Active AI Security Platform.

Tim holds a First-Class Bachelor's degree in Linguistics with Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where he also earned his Master's and PhD in Linguistics. His doctoral research, funded by the European Research Council, explored language acquisition and structure from a formal perspective, examining how universal cognitive categorisation algorithms shape the ways different languages emphasise information.
